St. Louis (KSDK) - The St. Louis College of Pharmacy wants to inform families about prescription drug safety.

According to St. Louis College of Pharmacy spokesperson Brad Brown, teens abuse prescription medication more than anything else besides marijuana, and most start abusing drugs found in their home.

Below are tips from pharmacist Amy Tiemeier, Pharm.D., for keeping medication out of the wrong hands:
- Keep potentially addictive medication in a secure spot
- Store all other medication on a high shelf, out of reach of small children
- Check your city and county police departments for a P2D2 collection box
- Take advantage of national disposal initiatives (next one is April 27, 2013)
