ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A recent study says it's common for teenagers to change their diet and exercise more to achieve a muscular or tone appearance.

The researchers concluded muscle-enhancing behaviors were common for both boys and girls. One of the ways teenagers are gaining muscle is by taking protein powders, shakes and other supplements.

For more on the study, read USA Today's article.

Ryan Dean also highlighted the study on Tuesday's Today in St. Louis. In the video above, a local doctor weighs in on protein shakes. Should your teen be taking them?
