ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Pedal the Cause has announced its first round of research projects funded from the 2012 race.
The money will be distributed to the Cancer Frontier Fund (CFF), established through the Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital. The fund accelerates the pace of new cancer treatments and finding a cure.
These are the first round of projects:
1) Defining molecular targets on micro metastatic disease in breast cancer
Principal investigators: Dr. Rebecca Aft and Dr. Mark Watson
2) Epigenetic modulation of GvHD and GvL
Principal investigator: Dr. John DiPersio
3) Patient-specific mutation-directed immunotherapy for melanoma
Principal investigator: Dr. Gerry Linette
4) Exploring mechanisms to treatment resistance to improve outcomes in pancreatic cancer
Principal investigators: Dr. David Linehan, Dr. David Denardo, Dr. Andrea Wang-Gillam, Dr. Jason Weber, Dr. William Hawkins, and Dr. Dirk Spitzer
Pedal the Cause raised $2.057 million in 2012, and 100 percent of that money goes to cancer research.
