KSDK -- The Major Case Squad has arrested and charged an O'Fallon man for killing an acquaintance.
Detectives said the suspect, 23-year-old Santoin Russell, knew Blake Harvey. A friend found Harvey strangled to death in his on Sunday morning.
Investigators said Harvey,46, allowed Russell into his home in the 600 block of East State Street. The two began to argue, which led to a physical confrontation and ultimately Harvey's death.
Russell and Harvey knew each other, but detectives would not elaborate. Police arrested Russell at his home in O'Fallon, Illinois early Wednesday.
"I believe we had between 80 and 90 leads that came in and it was just a lot of hard work that led to this," said Major Jeff Connor, Major Case Squad.
Detectives have not commented on a motive.
Harvey had an ex-wife and two children, including a 13-year-old daughter. Russell remains in the St. Clair County jail on a $1 million bond.
