KSDK -- There are new street signs along a stretch of Delmar Boulevard honoring the President.
Dozens gathered this morning at Delmar and Kingshighway for the official unveiling of "Barack Obama Boulevard."
The stretch of delmar from Tucker Street downtown to the city limits will bear Obama's name.
The bill was proposed by Sixth Ward Alderwoman Kacie Starr Triplett. She gave a speech during today's ceremony. "President Obama taught our nation that it's ok to have hope. Barack Obama Boulevard sits at that intersection of both those principals faith and hope let us keep these principals in our hearts and in our minds and work together to create an even better St. Louis," she proclaimed.
Barack Obama Boulevard is an honorary designation. The street will remain Delmar Boulevard on maps and mailing addresses.
