KSDK -- A 28-year-old Cahokia man is in police custody for allegedly molesting a wheelchair-bound 11-year-old girl.
The St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office charged Marvin J. Burries with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.
Police arrested Burries on Wednesday afternoon after receiving phone calls about an assault at a residence in unincorporated Cahokia. Burries did not live at the home; he was staying there as a family friend.
An officer learned that an ambulance had gone to the house because Burries was complaining about broken ribs. Investigators learned when family members found out what Burries had done, they restrained him until police could arrive.
During an interrogation, Burries attempted to jump from a window in the interrogation room, located on the second floor of the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department. However, deputies were able to restrain him.
Burries remains at the St. Clair County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
