KSDK -- Two men robbed a bank Wednesday afternoon in Caseyville, Illinois. The Federal Bureau of Investigation believes it knows who one of the suspects is.
Authorities said one man walked into the UMB Bank branch with a handgun and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. He had an unknown passenger waiting in the car to drive off after the robbery. No one was hurt during the robbery.
The Springfield, Illinois FBI Office believes the armed suspect is Chad Earl Schaffner, an allegedly prolific bank bandit responsible for at least 10 robberies in multiple states since May. Schaffner has reportedly hit banks in Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and most recently in Indiana.
Schaffner has several tattoos on his body, including a heart on his left chest, a cross and dots on his upper left arm, an Indianapolis Colts logo on his upper right arm, a wizard and skull on his lower left arm, a dragon on his lower right arm, and several others.
The FBI is offering a reward for information leading to Schaffner's arrest. Anyone with knowledge of Schaffner's whereabouts is asked to contact their local FBI Office or the nearest American embassy.
