KSDK -- The IRS is offering job opportunities for teenagers looking to get some real-world experience before they head into the full-time workforce as adults.

STEP is a program that provides students with exposure to government service and experience as well as a paycheck.  STEP employees are on temporary appointments that may last up to one year.

Students are not required to have any specific major to participate.  They must be 16 years old, currently enrolled or accepted as a degree-seeking student with half-time or more academic course load.  They must attend an accredited high school, college, university, technical or vocational school; and must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Students who are chosen will work with staff on special projects, filing, faxing and copying and taking phone calls.
