KSDK-- Her family calls it a miracle.
Megan Moss received a heart transplant at Barnes-Jewish hospital Sunday afternoon.
Moss, 23, of Ferguson was diagnosed with a weakening of her heart muscle when she was 15. Doctors don't know what caused it.
Then in November, while pursuing her career as front office supervisor at the Ritz-Carlton, her condition suddenly got worse.
She was moved to the top of the regional transplant list. If she didn't get a transplant this weekend, her name would have dropped lower on the transplant list. She would have also been facing an operation to implant a device to keep her heart going.
The Moss family learned at 10:00 p.m. Saturday that there was a heart available from Texas. Megan went into surgery at 9:00 a.m. Sunday. The transplant was completed about three hours later. Megan is now recovering in Cardiac ICU where she's expected to sleep for at least two days.
The Moss family is asking everyone to keep the donor family in their prayers.
