(Oakville) KSDK-- Some local firefighters helped fulfill a wounded marine's lifelong dream. Marine Cpl. Todd Nicely of Arnold lost his limbs during the war in Afghanistan and he almost lost his chance to become a firefighter.

Cpl. Nicely lost his limbs fighting for his country, but never lost his wish to trade his combat uniform for a firefighter's helmet. Saturday afternoon, Cpl. Nicely became an honorary firefighter.

"It was really emotional and I couldn't hold it and I got choked up because its really great and it's really an honor to be here," said Nicely.

Saturday's event was part of a two day benefit for Cpl. Nicely. Organizers said it was a huge success thanks to the public and Faith Lutheran Church where the event was held.
