KSDK/Today Show -- Kim Schlau, the mother of teenage daughters who died in a crash involving an Illinois State Trooper, is working to change the policy that could allow him to collect worker's compensation.
Schlau appeared on the Today Show on Monday morning.
Schlau's daughters, Jessica and Kelli Uhl, died in the 2007 crash.
Investigators said Trooper Matt Mitchell was driving around 126 miles-per-hour at the time of the crash. He admitted he had been talking on the phone to his girlfriend and had sent an email on his work computer prior to the crash.
Mitchell pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and was stripped of his badge. He has since filed for worker's compensation because he became disabled in the crash.
Schlau said she has never received an apology from Mitchell and doesn't expect to receive one.
