Clayton, MO (KSDK) -- While some St. Louis-area students chose to take it easy on this snow day, others made it a work day.

Max Nissen is only 12-years-old but already has his own business and it involves snow and a tractor. He may be too young to drive or vote, but he's not too young for work.

At age 12, Max Nissen is too young to drive or vote but he's not too young to work!

The John Deere tractor was a Christmas gift from his parents. And Tuesday's snowy day was the perfect opportunity for Max to plow the sidewalks and driveways of his neighbors in Clayton.

He charges $25 for each home.  On a good day, Nissen said he can make at least $200 in one day.

"Sooner or later I'm going to have to start paying for my stuff. I plan to have savings and all that," Nissen said.

At first, neighbor Michelle Harris was skeptical when she and her family, including son Clayton, heard about Nissen's tractor.

"I thought it was kind of a ridiculous Christmas present for a boy to get a tractor," said neighbor Michelle Harris. "I thought he can't ride around the streets in it, what's he going to do with it? Little did I know he was going to start a business venture."

Nissen said his friends were surprised but some of them were also inspired to follow in his footsteps.
