(Frontenac, Mo.) KSDK -- Heart disease is the leading killer of women. To help educate and prevent, today St. Luke's Hospital hosted a "Day of Dance."

Hundreds gathered at the Frontenac Hilton to learn the steps. Physicians were also on hand to provide health screenings.

Some women at the event had already experienced heart issues, and the dance today was their way of making sure it doesn't happen again.

"You can do something about this while you're healthy, and if you have had an episode there's many things you can do to keep yourself from having another heart attack. That's where I am. I don't want to have another heart attack. I don't want to be a statistic," said heart attack survivor Christy Hawley.

Women should call 911 immediately if they experience: chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea, light-headedness, upper body pain, unusual fatigue or breaking out in a cold sweat.
