Springfield, IL (KSDK) - The Illinois House of Representatives approved the Uhl legislation.
It excludes employees from receiving workers' compensation if their claim resulted in committing a felony.
The legislation stems from a car accident which occured the day after Thanksgiving in November 2007.
Illinois State Trooper Matt Mitchell was accused of driving more than 120 mph and talking on his cell phone when he lost control and hit a vehicle Jessica and Kelli Uhl were in. The Uhl sisters died in the crash.
Mitchell survived the crash and pleaded guilty to two counts of reckless homicide. He also requested workers' compensation for the incident.
