Chester, IL (KSDK) - In Christopher Coleman's hometown of Chester, Illinois, residents are talking about his guilty verdict.
Residents said initially, news of Sheri, Gavin and Garrett's murders was devastating. Many said they were surprised to learn Coleman was the main suspect. But as details of the case emerged, many Chester residents said they believed he was guilty and when the jury came back with a guilty verdict, they were pleased.
"It's just hard to believe a guy from Chester could do that," Dollatine Rinderer said. "I just hope he regrets what he did to his own kids. For him to strangle them, you know he had to see their fear. Now I hope he has fear in his eyes for himself where he's going."
Sherri and the boys are buried at the cemetery in Chester. A cemetery employee said he's already received a call from Sherri's family about moving their bodies to a cemetery in Chicago.
Chris Coleman's parents run a large church in Chester. NewsChannel 5 attempted to contact the church for a reaction, but there was no one there to comment.
