Florissant, Mo (KSDK) - A 19-year-old St. Peters man is scheduled to be sentenced next month for his role in a burglary in which police shot and killed a suspect.

Jeron Ward pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, two counts of robbery, two counts of armed criminal action and burglary.

Ward, Jhmari McCoy and another man were suspected of burglarizing and pistol-whipping a man at a home on Cranberry Court, near New Halls Ferry Road in 2009.

When police arrived at the scene they said Jhmari McCoy was spotted leaving the scene.  He refused to stop and pointed a gun at police.  Police said that was when an officer shot McCoy.

McCoy later died at an area hospital.
