St. Louis (KSDK) -- American Idol auditions in St. Louis were enough to get more than 10,000 people out of bed early Tuesday morning.

Thousands packed the streets of downtown St. Louis around the Scottrade Center in hopes of earning a chance to sing in front of the Idol judges.

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest is at the auditions.

Some downtown streets are closed to accommodate the crowds from the American Idol auditions. Market Street is closed between 15th Street and Tucker Boulevard beginning through 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Fourteenth Street is also closed between Market Street and Clark Avenue from through 9 a.m.

Allow for extra travel time to navigate around these street closures if you are traveling downtown.

NewsChannel 5's Heidi Glaus spoke with some Idol hopefuls and some belted out their best notes.
