Valley Park, Mo (KSDK) -- Circle of Concern is in need of frozen turkeys to complete its Thanksgiving Baskets this week.

The Valley Park based charity starts this week with just 38 frozen turkeys and one turkey breast. It also has a record number of families who have signed up for assistance.

"We expected the price of turkeys to be higher this year," Circle director Glenn Koenen explains. "We're paying our wholesaler 20¢ more a pound - that stings when you're buying hundreds of turkeys weighing about 12 pounds each."

Circle Of Concern needs to receive 250 turkeys and 40 turkey breasts this week to fill its baskets.  Donations of boxed stuffing, cranberry sauce, canned yams and other traditional Thanksgiving dinner foods are also needed.

Turkeys and other food can be delivered to Circle Of Concern at 112 St. Louis Avenue in Valley Park till 5:00 p.m. Friday.  A donation of $15.00 buys a turkey and a pie for a family. Gifts to pay for turkeys can be sent to:
