St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - Two officers with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department face charges of assault stemming from unrelated incidents, St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce said.
Officers Rory Bruce and David Wilson were charged with third-degree assault Wednesday.
Officer Bruce is accused of punching a 16-year-old suspect in the face while the teen was handcuffed. Prosecutors claim the assault was caught on video and audio recording from a police vehicle.
In the second incident, prosecutors allege Officer Wilson punched another 16-year-old suspect in the head while sitting in the rear of a police cruiser. Like the other incident, Joyce said there are audio and video recordings of this attack.
St. Louis Metropolitan Police Chief Dan Isom said Officer Bruce is on administrative duty while awaiting the outcome of an internal disciplinarian process.
Isom said Officer Wilson was one of two probationary officers involved in the other case. Wilson and that other officer have already been dismissed from the department, according to Isom.
Chief Isom released this video statement following the announcement of charges:
