De Soto, MO (KSDK) - More than a handful of cars on a train derailed Tuesday morning while traveling through De Soto.
The De Soto Fire Department said the derailment occurred at 900 South Main Street. The Miller Street crossing has been blocked as a result.
Mark Davis, a Union Pacific spokesman, said a 58-car train traveling from Iron Mountain to St. Louis derailed at about 9:40 a.m. Seven cars carrying granite rocks used on train tracks derailed and lost their cargo.
No injuries have been reported.
Davis said the train line is expected to reopen by 11 p.m. The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
