Waterloo, IL, (KSDK)-- The family of a Waterloo, Illinois man who died outside Busch Stadium on Saturday is still in shock.
They describe Al Goodman, 58, as loving, caring and very friendly. They say he was a devout St. Louis Cardinals fan who never missed a game.
On Saturday, he was celebrating the Cardinals' win with his brother Kenny and hundreds of other fans at Kilroy's Sports Bar when it started raining. The two took cover in a nearby tent. A short time later the tent lifted off the ground and came crashing back down. Goodman died, more than 100 others were hurt.
St. Louis police say the medical examiner has determined his cause of death to be blunt force trauma.
The St. Louis Cardinals honored Goodman with a moment of silence before Sunday's game.
Goodman's daughter Carrie says she was deeply touched, and the tribute gave her family some much needed comfort.
"I think if there is any way to memorialize him that was a wonderful way to do it," Carrie Goodman said. "I appreciate they took the time to do that for us and we'll be Cardinals fans forever just like my dad."
Al Goodman is survived by his wife of 36 years, three daughters and two grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are still being finalized.
