Menard, IL (KSDK) -- A staff assault at Menard Correctional Center over the weekend has left the prison on level one lockdown, Chief Public Information Officer Stacy Solano said Monday.
An assault occured at the facility on Sunday that sent a guard to the hospital.
Solano says weapons were found, however they were not used in the incident.
Following the incident, the facility has been placed on level one lockdown. This applies to the entire prison, and it means that no inmates are allowed out of their cells and visitors are not permitted.
Officers are investigating the incident. The guard is no longer hospitalized.
No other information has been released.
