Los Angeles (AP) - Rodney King was laid to rest Saturday at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills.
The 47-year-old King was remembered, not as a civil rights advocate, but as a "gentle giant" by one of his daughters.
Civil rights leader the Reverend Al Sharpton called King a symbol of forgiveness. His beating by Los Angeles police officers in 1992 sparked a deadly riot, bringing race relations to the forefront of national attention.
Saturday's services were held nearly two weeks after King's death. Family members say financial problems and disagreements caused the delay.
King was found at the bottom of his swimming pool in Rialto, California two weeks ago. He apparently suffered a cardiac arrest.
