Waynesville, Missouri (KSDK) - The man arrested after invading the campus of Fort Leonard Wood military base and then getting into a gun battle with police in May 2011 has pleaded guilty to criminal charges.
32 year old Cody Wilcoxson of Southwest City in far southern Missouri admitted in court Monday to three counts of first degree assault on police officers and a single count of first degree burglary.
Wilcoxson is scheduled to be sentenced on August 9th.
Police arrested Wilcoxson after he drove through a security gate at the military base, then engaged police in Pulaski and Phelps counties in a high speed chase along a highway where he exahnged gunfire with chasing officers.
The pursuit led onto the campus of the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla where witnesses say Wilcoxson crashed the car and was seen running across campus with an assault rifle.
Wilcoxson further eluded police and broke into a nearby home where he stole keys to the residents vehicle and the chase was on again.
Authorities finally shut Wilcoxson down on a dead end gravel road about 15 miles south of the Rolla city limits.
