St. Charles County, MO (KSDK) - An industrial accident at a sewer facility off Highway 94 in St. Charles County has left one man dead.  St. Charles Police identifed the man as Steve Webb, 53, of House Springs, Missouri.  Officials say Webb worked for Coatings Unlimited, in Bridgeton, a sub-contractor for KCI Construction Company.

According to the St. Charles Fire Department, Webb became trapped at the Boschertown Sanitary Lift Station, part of the existing Boschertown Wastewater Treatment Lagoons.

Officials say he was doing work in the sewer, went in at 11:15 a.m. and was not seen again.  Webb's co-workers went in an hour and found him unconscious and unresponsive.  Officials describe the pipe as four feet wide, concrete, and vertical.  Officials say the worker was down about 30 feet into the pipe.

Paramedics and firefighters went into the sewer with breathing apparatuses after the area showed signs of a "hazardous air environment" and found that Webb had died.

NewsChannel 5 will have more information on this story as it becomes available.
