College football season kicked off Thursday night and we already have our first hilarious gaffe courtesy of the Kent State-Towson game.
A Kent State punt deflected a Towson player, meaning that it was a fumble and a live ball.
Kent State's Andre Parker scooped up the ball and took off.
In the wrong direction.
Parker ran about 60 yards towards his own end zone before being tackled by Towson players.
In actuality, it didn't matter because if the punting team picks up a fumble it can't be advanced or retreated. Nobody seems to realize that this rule exists, as we see players try to advance loose punts just about every week, even in the NFL.
Thus, the ball was spotted where Parker picked up the ball, at Towson's 7-yard line.
