St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A barrage of bullets in a north St. Louis intersection has claimed the life of one man and left a second man hospitalized.

Police in St. Louis responded to the corner of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive at North Euclid where the two victims were ambushed after coming to a stop sign while driving eastbound on Dr. King.

Officials say the 26 year old man who was driving the targeted car was able to drive himself and his 25 year old passenger to the hospital following the attack.

The unidentified passenger was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.  He had suffered a fatal bullet wound to the head.

The driver was hit three times by gunfire, in the back, the arm, and his knee and remains hospitalized.

According to authorities, the two victims came to the stop sign around 9:30 Monday evening when a black colored vehicle pulled alongside and opened fire.

Detectives found more than a dozen spent shell casings from a nine millimeter weapon when they canvassed the intersection in north St. Louis.

No motive has been established in the investigation and no names have been released.
