Manhunt ends in Bunker Hill for escaped Wisconsin inmate

Bunker Hill, IL (KSDK) - An inmate who escaped a Wisconsin prison work camp was apprehended in Macoupin County Thursday afternoon.

The suspect, identified as 33-year-old James Russell Kelley, escaped the prison camp on foot and hitchhiked his way into southern Illinois.

Illinois State Police said the young woman driving Kelley had no idea he was an escaped inmate.

James Kelley is now back in police custody.

Bunker Hill is located about 17 miles north of Edwardsville.
