St. Louis man arrested in crash that injured Chesterfield officer

Chesterfield, MO (KSDK) - A Chesterfield Police Officer was slightly injured overnight after his car was struck by an out of control vehicle on eastbound I-64 near Timberlake Manor Parkway.

Investigators say the initial crash occurred around 1:00 a.m. when a driver struck the back of a trailer, then ended up with a disabled vehicle in the fast lane of the interstate.

The Chesterfield officer was on-scene sitting in his patrol car with his light bar flashing, when another vehicle approached, tried to pass the patrol car on the left near the median wall, and struck the police unit.

The unidentified officer was transported to Mercy Hospital with neck and back injuries.

The unidentified 28 year old City of St. Louis resident involved in the crash was arrested for careless and imprudent driving.
