St. Louis (KSDK) - Some stores across the region stayed open through Thanksgiving to lure customers ahead of Black Friday.
One of the retailers that stayed open Thursday was the Bass Pro Shop in St. Charles. The store opened at 8 a.m. with special deals to start a five day sale. Customers tell NewsChannel 5 they shopped on the holiday because of the convienence and small crowds. Others say they simply went shopping before their Thanksgiving meal for entertainment.
With all the controversy over opening early at places like Walmart this year, the Bass Pro Shop manager says employees there don't seem to mind. He told us the overtime usually has more people volunteering than needed.
Kmart, Toys "R" Us, and Walmart were also among stores to stay open on Thanksgiving.
