Town and Country, MO (KSDK) - Several dialysis patients have been taken to area hospitals after falling ill during treatments.

Thomas Weinberg, a spokesperson for U.S. Renal Care West County, says on Monday, December 3 eight patients reported not feeling well during dialysis treatment. The facility immediately stopped treatments.

Weinberg says they advised the patients to go to the hospital and helped them make arrangements.

One patient has been released from the hospital, the others are listed in stable condition.

U.S. Renal Care West County is currently closed, but Weinberg anticipates it will reopen within the few days after coordination with the state of Missouri and Medicare.

Arrangements were made for patients scheduled to receive treatment at this location to receive care elsewhere.

U.S. Renal Care, Inc. acquired two dialysis facilities in the area in September, one of which is this location.

According to the U.S. Renal Care website, the facility has state-of-the-art technology.

The company operates in 13 states, has 96 outpatient centers, seven centers under construction, 43 home dialysis programs, and serves 6,400 end stage renal disease patients.

There's no official word on what caused the patients to fall ill, but the water supply is being tested.
