FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KSDK) - A man police say they apprehended during a burglary has been charged.

Michael W. Coburn, 49, has been charged with one count of attempted residential burglary.

Fairview Heights police say they received a call around 7 p.m. on Tuesday about a man trying to break into an apartment at Longacre Ponds Apartment Complex.

The caller said they were watching the suspect try to pry open and break the glass on the rear sliding door to get into the ground level unit.

Police arrived on the scene and confronted Coburn. They say when they tried to place him under arrest he resisted and was tasered.

Coburn was then taken into custody.

Nobody was home inside the apartment unit at the time of the burglary attempt.

Coburn is held at the St. Clair County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
