ST. LOUIS (KSDK) -- Family, friends and teammates gathered today to pay their respects to former Dallas Cowboy and Vashon High School standout Jerry Brown.
The service was filled with tributes to the 25-year-old killed in a terrible car accident on Saturday, December 8th. The accident happened in Irving, Texas.
His teammate and best friend, Josh Brent, is accused of driving drunk. Brent faces Intoxication Manslaughter.
Dozens filled the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis. In service, Brown's Indianapolis Colts helmet rested on his casket. His jersey hung as a memorial.
"We just, you know, we just lost such a good kid. And that was his dream to be on the NFL team," said Brown's Aunt Jacquelyn Gray-Jones. "He's always talked about it. From the time before he went to high school. He just loved football. And I had been praying and hoping that he'd reach that dream. And he did. Yes, he did."
