Troy, AL (Sports Network) - Greg Gantt scored a game-high 26 points and pulled
down eight rebounds as the Florida Atlantic Owls picked up a 61-54 win over
the Troy Trojans in Sun Belt Conference play at Trojan Arena.
Also having a strong offensive game for the Owls (6-7, 2-1 SBC) was Pablo
Bertone who dropped in 21 points to go along with his seven rebounds as the
team snapped a three-game slide.
The Trojans (5-9, 0-3), losers of two straight and seven of the last eight
overall, were paced by Antoine Myers and R.J. Scott with 18 and 10 points,
respectively. Outside of Myers who knocked down 7-of-11 shots from the floor,
the starters for the hosts made just 6-of-28 from the field in the outing.
Troy, which led by as many as 10 points just over midway through the first
half, shot only 34.8 percent from the floor in the opening frame as it fell
behind by a 32-29 score at the break.
In the second half, the Trojans made a total of just nine field goals, missing
all but two of 15 chances from 3-point range in the frame, en route to the
FAU, which registered almost as many turnovers (15) as made field goals (18)
in the contest, won the rebounding battle by a 46-33 margin.
