Dellwood, MO (KSDK) - A teenager is hospitalized with a bullet lodged in his chest after what police described as an accidental shooting Tuesday.

Investigators say the two sixteen year old boys told police they found a six shot revolver behind the BP Service station on Halls Ferry Road near Woodwind.

The two juveniles then took the weapon back to one of the teen's home where the two boys then began playing with the gun by pointing it at one another and pulling the trigger.

That's when the weapon fired, and the other teen was struck in the right arm.

The victim was taken to St. Louis Children's Hospital where he was treated for a flesh wound on his upper arm.  That's also when medical officials discovered the bullet was still lodged inside the boy's chest.

The boy who fired the shot was turned over to juvenile officials with the St. Louis County Family Court, then later released to his mother after being charged with assault under the juvenile statute.

No names were released due to the boys status as juveniles.
