Olympian Village, MO (KSDK) - A three vehicle collision, caused by a driver who made a left turn in front of oncoming traffic, sends four people to the hospital, including the driver investigators say was making the turn and was intoxicated when the crash took place.

The crash occurred Thursday in Jefferson County on Highway 67 at Meyer Road where they say 35 year old Mark LaPlant of Festus was southbound on Hwy-67 and tried to make a left turn onto Meyer Road.

That's where LaPlant's car was struck by an oncoming northbound pick-up truck driven by an Ironton man who could not stop in time and collided with LaPlant's car.

The impact sent the pick-up sideways where it was struck by a second northbound car travelling alongside Highway 67 near Olympian Village.

The driver of the pick-up, 51 year old Dennis Elders and his 48 year old wife Sue both suffered moderate injuries in the crash.  The other northbound driver, Christopher Pratte, 31 of Bonne Terre was also transported to an area hospital.

Missouri Highway Patrol troopers cited LaPlant for drunk driving and vehicular assault.
