WINFIELD, Mo. (KSDK) - The victim of Tuesday's shooting at the Stevens Institute of Business and Arts is a beloved husband and father of two, well-respected by his fellow Winfield, Missouri residents.
Greg Elsenrath, financial aid director at Stevens Institute of Business and Arts, had been working at the school for the last 15 years. After being shot, he was rushed to St. Louis University Hospital, where he remains listed in stable condition.
Not only is Elsenrath a financial aid director at the school, but he is also a landlord with a few rental properties in the Winfield area. NewsChannel 5 spoke to some of his tenants and they all said he is a wonderful man, easy to get along with, and understanding.
Deanna Hanes, a neighbor who used to live next to him, described Elsenrath as a great neighbor. She said they quickly became friends.
"I have known him for 12 or 13 years, he has rental properties but I still run into him in the neighborhood and he's just a real wonderful, wonderful person," Hanes said.
Winfield is a town of only about 1,500 people. Everyone NewsChannel 5 spoke with who either knew or knew of Elsenrath all agreed he is a good man. Nobody had a bad thing to say about him.
