Mizzou falls to #22 in the USA Today Poll
(KSDK Sports) -- The fortunes of the Missouri Tigers and the Fighting Illini of Illinois continue to dwindle, as they continue plunging in the national rankings of the AP and USA Today's top 25.
Since losing to Missouri back on December 22nd, Illinois (14-5, 1-4) has lost five of seven after its 12-0 start and fallen near the bottom of the Big Ten. Their most recent loss to Northwestern cost them their Top 25 ranking in both major polls.
The Missouri Tigers felt the chomp of the Florida Gators on Saturday in Gainesville. By half time Missouri found themselves down by 17. In the end Florida trounced the Tigers, 83-52.
The loss pushed the stumbling Tigers's further down the in the Top 25 rankings. Published today, the Associated Press poll dropped Missouri another 5 places from 17 to 22. In the USA Today Coaches Poll, Missouri dropped from 16 ranking, also to number 22.
The Tigers (13-4, 2-2 SEC) resume play Tuesday night, at home against SEC rival South Carolina (11-6, 1-3 SEC).
The Fighting Illini (14-5, 1-4 Big Ten) visit Nebraska Tuesday night.
