ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) - Rawlings Sporting Goods and Maryville University announced Tuesday that the sports business management program has been named after the company.
This is the first corporate-named sports business management program in the United States.
"We have worked with Maryville University for many years and today we recognize more formally the caliber of the Sport Business Management faculty, the program and Maryville's students," he said. "Graduates of the Rawlings Sport Business Management Program will play pivotal roles in the business of sport. As alumni and undergraduates, they have already brought invaluable insight to marketing research and product development efforts at Rawlings. Organizations in St. Louis and beyond will benefit as these outstanding men and women pursue careers in the industry, said Robert Parish, Rawlings President and CEO.
A new logo was unveiled by Maryville University President Mark Lombardi and Parish at the news conference, held at Busch Stadium.
Rawlings executives will work with Maryville students on a variety of new and ongoing projects which will enhance learning through real-world projects.
The company will also select one business graduate student each term for a paid assistantship.
As part of the partnership, Rawlings will also create an online store for Maryville, and students will work with the company on special events and research projects.
