ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The Missouri Department of Transportation will close all lanes and ramps of Interstate 64 this weekend to take down two overpasses.
Both directions of I-64 will close between Kingshighway and Forest Park Parkway at 8 p.m. Friday, January 25 to remove the Taylor and Newstead bridges over the highway.
The work is part of a project that will construct a new interchange at Tower Grove and Boyle, replacing four bridges over the highway.

Ramps from McCausland/Skinker, Hampton, and Kingshighway to eastbound I-64 will be closed, along with ramps from Pine, Jefferson, Market, and Grant to westbound I-64.
Those traveling westbound on I-64 will need to detour by getting off the highway at the Forest Park Avenue exit (exit 38A) and take Forest Park Avenue to Kingshighway. Drivers should turn left onto Kingshighway and get back onto the interstate.
Eastbound I-64 drivers should get off at the Hampton Avenue exit (exit 34B) and turn right onto Hampton, and take it to eastbound I-44. Drivers can take I-44 to the Poplar Street Bridge.
The highway is set to reopen Monday, January 28m, but drivers will have only three 10 foot lanes in each direction, shifting to the middle of the interstate between Kingshighway and Vandeventer.
The Vandeventer ramp to westbound I-64 will stay closed.
Three lanes will be kept open in each direction of I-64 between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays. MoDOT will close up to two of those lanes overnight and on weekends.
Construction will continue until July 2014.
