EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KSDK) - A woman was robbed at gunpoint and then raped shortly after leaving a MetroLink station early Tuesday morning in the Metro East.
According to East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore, the incident occurred in the 1700 block of Parsons Avenue around 12:50 a.m.
The woman had departed the Emerson Park MetroLink Station and was walking home when an unidentified man approached her from behind, put a gun to her back, and demanded all of her money.
Chief Floore said the man took the woman's cash, then led her to a secluded area and raped her. The man struck the woman in the head with his gun and ran off.
