ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - More than 40 city workers in Pevely, Missouri lose their health insurance Thursday.

Pevely's city administrator says the insurance company raised rates nearly 50 percent and the city can no longer afford to provide coverage.

The insurance company blames the city's "aging" workforce as the reason for the rate increase.

The 43 Pevely city employees must now buy their own health insurance or be added to their spouse's plans.
