OAKVILLE, Mo. (KSDK) - It's a fiery truck crash that has made national headlines. You would never know it from the chaos captured on camera, but the man behind the wheel survived. It happened in Iowa, but the driver lives in south St. Louis County.

It was just after midnight Thursday morning along Highway 218 in Waterloo, Iowa when the driver of what was a Roadway semi was speeding, hit a slick spot and lost control.

Officials said that as the cab dangled from the overpass, 44-year-old Victor Ivantsov of Oakville threw out some of his personal belongings and jumped to safety. It was all before the cab and trailer fell, then burst into flames.

"It was very hard to put out because everything was so packed in that first trailer," said Capt. Bill Harder.

He explained that the trailer was packed with highly flammable engine parts.

It's a story so unbelievable that it has become a sensation.

"The video's amazing that he came out alive. Such a crash. You wonder if anybody's gonna survive something like that," said Igor Lipovac, who lives two houses down from the recovering husband and father of two.

"When the roads are slick, you should slow down, especially those semis," Lipovac said.
