CLAYTON, Mo. (KSDK) - A 31-year-old woman who hit and killed a bicyclist driving drunk has been sentenced.

Emily C. Hagan has been sentenced to three years in prison for killing 19-year-old Sam Scott in February 2012.

Scott was riding his bicycle home from work and was hit from behind by Hagan in the 7500 block of Delmar Boulevard. He was rushed to Barnes-Jewish Hospital where he died the following day.

Hagan failed a sobriety test and her blood alcohol content level was 0.262. The legal limit to drive in St. Louis is 0.08. She was charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.

On Friday Hagan made a plea deal that reduced the involuntary manslaughter charge to a Class C felony and dropped the DWI charge.

Hagan could be paroled after one year in prison.
