ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A resident of the historical Hill neighborhood said he ducked inside the house just as a suspected tornado hit his home.
Chris Hem said he went outside his home in the 5600 block of Columbia Avenue around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday because he thought the storm was over. He ducked inside the house and got into the basement.
The back door of his home blew out and the shed was damaged.
Hem said it sounded like a freight train.

When he came out of the basement, he was reassured by the police who were already at the scene.
There are many downed trees and shingles in the area.
Crews say damage will be better assessed in the daylight.
Fire Captain Dan Sutter said no one was injured and it's too early to say if it was a tornado that caused the damage.
