The Hill tornado classfied as EF0

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The National Weather Service says an EF0 tornado hit The Hill neighborhood in the City of St. Louis Wednesday night.

EF0 tornadoes carry winds between 65 to 85 miles per hour.

According to the NWS, the tornado first touched down near the intersection of 59th Street and Reber in the City of St. Louis.

The tornado moved northeast across Dalton and January avenues before lifting on Columbia Avenue.

Forty-eight homes were damaged, one of which was condemned. Three businesses were also damaged, including Bruno's Restaurant, a chiropractor's office, and a heating and cooling contractor's office.

One home on Columbia Avenue lost the east-facing side of the roof, and insulation was scattered north and east along the street.

Several cars were also badly damaged from falling debris.

The City of St. Louis EMS building also sustained damage, including a leaking roof.

A garage that belongs to a vacant business has also been condemned.

The city will bring in large dumpsters for residents to use for cleanup efforts. Refuse crews will do additional bulk pickups Friday and as needed in days ahead in the affected areas.

No one was seriously injured.

Mayor Francis Slay toured the damage Thursday afternoon.
