ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The Zooline Railroad is one of the more popular attractions at the Saint Louis Zoo and Friday there was a special celebration in its honor.
The Zooline Railroad kicked off its 50th year in operation Friday afternoon.
Mayor Francis Slay delivered a proclamation to Jeffrey Bonner, president of the Zoo, declaring Friday "Emerson Zooline Railroad Day" in the City of St. Louis.
St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley drove a golden spike to commemorate the day.
It was in that same area that the late Marlin Perkins, drove a golden spike into the ground back in 1963.
Louie and Rampage were also on hand to celebrate.
