ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - We're just hours away from the start of Komen Race for the Cure in downtown St. Louis.

Registration will open at 6:30 a.m. along Market between 13th and Tucker. Team photos will take place across the way on Pine.

The survivor procession begins at 7:25 a.m., and runners will start at 8:30 a.m. If you're coming downtown to watch a runner cross the finish line, that'll be at Market and 15th.

There are approximately 37,000 registered this year, down from 51,000 last year.

As far as safety is concerned, if you're bringing a backpack, you'll need to keep it with you at all times. Do not leave it on the ground unattended.

Chestnut will be closed between Tucker and 15th, and Pine will be closed from there as well. Many streets around Soldiers' Memorial will be closed, because those are at the heart of the race.

There are more than 30 garages in downtown St. Louis that are within walking distance to the start line of the race. Most of those will cost $3 or $5.

You can avoid parking by taking the MetroLink down. There are plenty of stops close to the race day activities, and high-traffic locations will have extra Metro Transit workers on hand.
