JEROME, Mo. (KSDK) - Interstate 44 closed Wednesday morning at mile marker 172 near Jerome, Mo. Route 63 is also closed south of Vienna in Maries County and at Westphalia in Osage County.
Drivers should use U.S. 60, I-70, or U.S. 36 as alternate routes.
Route 63 drivers to areas south of Vienna should take U.S. 50 to Route 28 to U.S. 63. Anyone driving to areas north of Vienna should use Routes U and E.
The National Weather Service predicts U.S. 50 will be covered by water at Mount Sterling by Thursday morning.
Once water recedes, Missouri Department of Transportation officials will inspect pavement and bridges before reopening the roadways.
Officials say if it does not rain overnight, they hope to have I-44 reopen in time for the morning commute.
