(KSDK) -- Thousands of gun owners are expected to pack some heat when they stop for an iced coffee at Starbucks today.
Starbucks Appreciation Day is a grass-roots facebook movement to support the coffee chain's policy on firearms.
Starbucks allows gun owners to openly carry firearms into stores in states where it is legal to do so.
The policy has been the subject of a heated debate between people on both sides of the gun control issue.
More than 3,000 people have signed up on facebook to participate in Starbucks Appreciation Day.
But, the group "Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America" is pushing back. It's urging Starbucks to ban guns in its stores. An online petition has garnered more than 6,000 signatures.
